YMCA Middle School Camp
Middle School Camps at the Helena Family YMCA are designed to give youth a fun, active, and meaningful summer experience. These camps focus on building confidence, teamwork, and leadership through a mix of hands-on activities, service projects, outdoor adventures, and field trips around the Helena area. Campers will have opportunities to make new friends, try new experiences, and develop important life skills in a supportive and encouraging environment. Through participation in our volunteer-based programs, the YMCA can also serve as a reference for future employment, helping campers build early work experience and a strong foundation for what comes next.

Junior Impact Leaders
This middle school program is designed to inspire leadership, teamwork, and community connection through a balanced and engaging experience. Participants will spend half of each day completing hands-on service projects around Helena, giving back to the community while learning the value of responsibility and service. The second half of the day is focused on fun and relationship-building through team-building activities and local field trips. This program encourages confidence, collaboration, and personal growth in a supportive environment while helping youth make a positive impact in their community.
Daily Schedule:
8:00 am – Check in at the YMCA
8:30 am – Shuttle or walk to service project
9:00am- 12:00pm- Participate in a service project around Helena (locations will be sent out 2 weeks prior to program start)
12:00pm- 12:45pm- Lunch in a local park
12:45- 4:00pm Fun team building activity or field trip
4:00pm- 5:00pm- pick up at the YMCA
*Except on Fridays, where we will have pick up from 4:00-5:00 PM*

Rafting Camp
The YMCA Middle School Rafting Camp is an exciting outdoor adventure designed to build confidence, teamwork, and leadership while exploring Montana’s beautiful rivers. Campers will learn basic rafting skills, water safety, and paddle commands from trained YMCA staff while working together as a team on the water. When not rafting, participants will take part in group games, team-building activities, and outdoor education focused on respect for nature and one another. This camp emphasizes fun, safety, and personal growth, giving middle schoolers the chance to try something new, build friendships, and create unforgettable summer memories in a supportive YMCA environment.
Daily Schedule:
8:00 am – Check in at the YMCA
8:30 am – Shuttle to river put in (put ins and take outs will be sent out 2 weeks prior to program start)
9:30 am – 4:00 pm – HAVE TONS OF OUTDOOR MONTANA FUN!
5:00-5:30 pm – Back at the YMCA for pick-up
*Except on Fridays, where we will have pick up from 4:00-5:00 PM*
