UNPLUG and PLAY, 2025 SUMMER CAMP

Ready for the Best Summer Ever? Over the course of the summer, each week will follow a different theme while intertwining everything great about Montana!

Helena YMCA Summer Day Camp will be held at beautiful Camp Child. Campers’ grades Kinder to 6th for the 2025-26 school year will enjoy canoeing, arts & crafts, swimming, zip lining, climbing the rock wall, practicing archery, disc golf and so much more! Campers will also participate in daily STEM and literacy activities based on the Helena Public Schools Content Standards that will prevent summer regression and expand developing skills. Breakfast and lunch provided daily.

Week 1: June 16th-20th, Operation Summer Spy

This thrilling camp theme engages kids in exciting detective adventures, encouraging them to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to unravel mysteries. Campers will take part in interactive activities, including mock spy missions, clue-solving challenges, and teamwork-based investigations. Along the way, they’ll learn about the tools and techniques used by real-life detectives and secret agents—all while building confidence, collaboration, and a sense of adventure in a fun and supportive environment aligned with the YMCA’s core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Week 2: June 23rd-27th, They Work Hard for Honey!

Get ready for a buzz-worthy adventure all about bees, butterflies, and bugs! This week, campers will explore the fascinating world of pollinators as they collect and identify insects, learn how bees and butterflies help our environment, and even try their hand at a fun bee dance. Through hands-on activities, games, and nature exploration, kids will discover the important role these tiny creatures play in our world.

Week 3: June 30th-July 3rd, Party in the USA Summer Camp

Get ready for a star-spangled week of all-American fun! Campers will celebrate classic summertime traditions with baseball games, delicious treats like hot dogs and s’mores, and plenty of red, white, and blue excitement. From outdoor games to festive crafts, every day will be packed with energy, laughter, and patriotic spirit.

Week 4: July 30th- 11th, Land Before Time Summer Camp

Calling all dino lovers! Travel back to the prehistoric world for a week filled with dinosaur-themed adventures. Campers will dig for fossils, create their own dinosaurs, and even design their own ancient relics. Through hands-on activities, games, and creative projects, kids will explore the fascinating world of dinosaurs and paleontology.

Week 5: July 14th – 18th, Mad Scientist Summer Camp

Calling all aspiring scientists! Get ready for a week of exciting hands-on experiments and mind-blowing discoveries. Campers will dive into the world of science as they create erupting volcanoes, stretchy slime, fascinating oobleck, and glowing lava lamps. Through fun, interactive activities, kids will explore chemistry, physics, and the magic of scientific exploration.

Through scavenger hunts, map reading, and clue-solving challenges, kids will engage in activities that encourage curiosity, perseverance, and critical thinking. Along the way, they’ll learn about geography, history, and the importance of working together to achieve a common goal.

Campers will explore self-expression through colorful art projects, tie-dye activities, and exciting color-themed games, all while learning the importance of kindness, empathy, and teamwork. Through acts of kindness, community service projects, and uplifting activities, kids will discover how small gestures can make a big impact.

Week 8, August 4th-8th, Medieval Times Summer Camp

Step back in time and experience the magic of the Middle Ages! Campers will become knights, princesses, and inventors as they explore medieval history through hands-on activities like castle-building, jousting games, and storytelling. They’ll craft their own shields, learn the art of chivalry, and take part in fun team challenges that encourage bravery, leadership, and creativity.

Whether solving medieval quests, designing their own family crest, or participating in a grand tournament, every camper will build confidence, strengthen friendships, and create lasting memories—just like the heroes of old!

Week 9: August 11th-15th, Into the Wild Summer Camp

Do you have what it takes to thrive in the great outdoors? This exciting week of adventure will introduce campers to essential wilderness survival skills, including how to use a compass, fish, and identify plants. Through hands-on activities and teamwork, kids will build confidence and a deeper appreciation for nature.

Guided by the Lewis and Clark County Search and Rescue Team, campers will learn valuable outdoor safety techniques from real experts. Rooted in the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, this camp encourages problem-solving, resilience, and teamwork—helping every child develop the skills and confidence to navigate the wild with courage and respect for the environment.

Week 10: August 18th-22th, Imagination Station

Unleash creativity and bring stories to life in a fun-filled summer camp where kids explore the world of art, storytelling, and drama! Campers will express themselves through painting, crafts, creative writing, and theatrical performances, building confidence and communication skills along the way. Whether acting in a play, designing costumes, or crafting their own stories, every child will have the opportunity to showcase their unique talents and imagination.

Week 12: August 22-26, Kindergarten Mini Camp

While the big kids head back to school, our upcoming kindergarteners get Camp Child all to themselves! This special mini camp is designed just for young adventurers, offering a fun and supportive environment where they can explore, play, and make new friends. Through engaging activities, outdoor adventures, and creative play, campers will build confidence and get a taste of the excitement that camp has to offer.

9 am – 4:00 pm – HAVE TONS OF OUTDOOR MONTANA FUN!

5:00-5:30 pm – Back at the YMCA for pick-up
