Non-Contact Flag Rugby for Kids – Fun, Safe, and Fast-Paced!
***Players will be divided into groups by age and skill level at the start of each practice.***
Program Details
What: Rookie Rugby is a non-contact, clinic-style program designed to teach the fundamentals of rugby in a fun, safe, and encouraging environment. Practices are led by experienced players from the Helena All Blues Rugby Club.
Who: Kindergarten–5th Grade
When: September 14 – October 24
Where: Centennial B Field (across the YMCA parking lot)
Cost:
- $70 – YMCA Members
- $80 – Community Members
Registration Includes: A Rookie Rugby jersey!
What to Bring
- Water bottle
- Athletic shoes or cleats (metal cleats are not permitted)
What Kids Will Learn
Participants will build confidence while developing fundamental rugby skills, including:
- Ball handling and passing
- Running, agility, and evasion techniques
- Teamwork and communication
- Sportsmanship and respect for teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents
Coaching Staff
Practices are led by players from the Helena All Blues Rugby Club, who are excited to introduce young athletes to the game of rugby.
Already have rugby experience? Let the coaches know at the first practice—we’d love to help place you in the appropriate group and build on your skills!
Rugby is one of the fastest-growing youth sports in the country, and Rookie Rugby is a great way for kids to stay active, make friends, and learn a fun new sport in a positive, non-contact environment.
