A program of the Big Sky State Games, Shape Up Montana is a 3 month activity & weight loss challenge to help make Montanans healthier.
The event runs from February 1 through May 1 and participants track their weekly activity miles and monthly weigh-ins (though weigh-ins are optional). Participant t-shirt, weekly workout tips, nutrition challenges/recipes, and fitness videos are all scheduled for this year!
Gather some friends, form a team, and compete with-&-against the rest of the state! To keep things fun inside the building, this year we'll again have team 'Helena YMCA Staff' (2012 &2014 SUM state champions) and 'Helena YMCA Members.'
7 week triathlon training class at the Helena Family YMCA begins Tuesday, April 7. Class meets three times per week with 45 minute conditioning sessions for all three triathlon components: swimming, biking, and running.
SWIM: Fridays 7-7:45 PM BIKE: Saturdays, 8-8:45 AM RUN: Tuesdays, 5:30-6:15 PM

The Queen City Triathlon is a beginner-oriented and USA Triathlon sanctioned event. The race consists of a 1000 yard swim (just over 1/2 a mile), a 12 mile bike, and a 5K run (3.1 miles). Registration is at Big Sky Cycling or online: http://bigskybikes.com/bsc-queencitytriathlon.html
The Montana Women's Tri is July 19th in Helena. The race consists of a 500M swim, 12K bike, and 3K run. Registration opens April 19th.
Helena's 3rd annual Summer Slam 3-on-3 basketball tournament will take place on the blacktop at the Y parking lot. For those entering 3rd grade through adults, all are invited to participate in this fun, outdoor summer basketball tournament.
Summer Slam is Helena's outdoor 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Tournament is open to Players of all ages and abilities.
Youth Divisions for each Girls and Boys entering 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, & 8th grades. High School and Adult Divisions both host Female, Male, and Co-ed.
Weekend event includes games, music, food, and Player's and Champion's shirts for each division. Games will be played at YMCA parking lot near Centennial Park. Participants form their own teams of 3 players minimum and 4 players maximum and submit registration form to Helena Family YMCA.
$80 per Youth & High School team, $100 per Adult team.
*To guarantee a player t-shirt & correct size, Registration Forms must be received by midnight, Thursday, July 9.
**To be eligible for the tournament, teams must be registered by 10 AM Monday, July 13, 2015.

MAX-FIT is a high-intensity, total body sport conditioning workout program incorporating cardio, strength training, weights, plyometric, & agility exercises. You will be stronger, healthier, lose weight, tone up, & gain confidence!
Classes progress each week building upon 'skills & drills' learned on the speed ladder, through a dynamic warm-up, with dot training and a circuit routine from the week(s) before. In addition, 'Race Days' are held on Fridays where various components of class are tested and participants are further challenged in a fun, supportive environment.

Are you wanting to learn how to use the fitness equipment? Are you needing instruction on proper lifting technique, using the cardio machines, or learning about free weights?
Our popular Teen Fitness class continues this winter. Class is led by Helena Family YMCA Health & Wellness Director Ben Wahl and meets three consecutive weeks on Wednesdays from 4-5 PM in the Community Room.
Wednesday - May 6th: 4-5 PM (Nutrition & Healthy Eating)
Wednesday- May 13th: 4-5 PM (Muscles & Movements)
Wednesday - May 20th: 4-5 PM (Equipment Orientation & Technique)
** Please note, all 3 classes must be attended **
*Students will receive card entitling use of the YMCA Fitness Center
*Students will learn safe practices and techniques in using workout equipment *Students will receive a $10 Hastings gift certificate upon completion of the class
