I am pleased to announce that we will begin phase one of our pool opening process. Please note that, due to Governor Bullock’s directive earlier this year, only current Helena Family YMCA members are allowed into our facility. Because of this, all swimmers must be members of our Helena Family YMCA. Joiner’s fees will be waived for our swimming community. All COVID-19 related protocols must be followed so see attached for that information.
Starting September 8th, we will open the pool to the Helena Lions Swim Team. The St. Andrews Swim Team will begin their swim practices in our pool on September 14th. All swimmers will be members of the Helena Family YMCA. No non-members or spectators will be allowed to congregate in common areas.
Starting the 14th, we will open to master swimmers, all of whom must be members of the Helena YMCA. Jacque Trude will teach on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, and Paul Landes and Peggy Stringer will teach Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00 to10:00 am. The master’s program is open to any level of swimmer, regardless of ability. On-deck coaching will be done to work with each swimmer to improve their skills and provide workouts to meet their specific goals. Because swimmers must be members, we will not offer punch cards or daily passes. All swimmers must reserve their spot in advance via SignUpGenius, which is accessed from our website’s Fitness page, found HERE.
Beginning September 18th, and every Friday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm, we will offer a Water Polo Conditioning class. These classes will follow social distancing guidelines and follow all COVID-19 related protocols. This class will focus on conditioning using water polo drills that will be suitable for all fitness levels. These drills will improve ball handling, passing, shooting, and the eggbeater kick. For the most part, the lane lines will be left in to make it easier to socially distance. Any person interested in attending this Water Polo Conditioning class must be a YMCA member and must also reserve their spot via SignUp Genius (linked above). We welcome new members so come check this class out.
Finally, please remember that this is just phase one of our pool reopening. While it saddens me that I cannot open our pool to swimming lessons, water aerobics, and general lap swimming yet, I will bring those programs back as soon as it is safe to do so and operating costs can be met. Remember, things change rapidly in the age of COVID-19, so stay tuned for more updates.
Thank you so much for your patience.
