Alana Cunningham is joining the Helena YMCA staff as the Marketing Director & Sr. Program Manager. This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Senior Program Manager is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of member acquisition, organizational marketing, and advertising strategies, communication processes, and public relations activities (both external and internal) to further the YMCA’s mission, increasing membership, program sales, and member retention.
Alana, a Chicago native, is a 2015 Carroll College graduate, receiving a B.A. in Social Media Communications and English Writing. She is currently finishing her Masters in Communication Management and Public Relations from the University of Denver. She is also a 2019 Leadership Helena graduate.
Alana comes to the Helena YMCA most recently from the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce where, as the Communications Director, she managed and coordinated the young professional’s group, Helena Leaders Network, represented and promoted the Chamber by utilizing various methods to interact and communicate with their membership, Helena businesses, and other important community constituencies including the Helena Chamber’s new Workforce Initiative, Helena WINS, as the staff liaison on the communications committee. Alana also brings a wealth of experience to the Helena Y in aquatics as she has been a life long swimmer following a Junior Olympic track only being derailed by a shoulder injury. She then switched to coaching, lifeguarding and teaching youngsters the joy of swimming and competing at Carroll College and recently as the assistant coach for the Helena Lions swim team.
