BUILDING CONFIDENCE

fall soccer 2010It’s not about creating the next Lebron James, Mia Hamm, or even making varsity. It’s about kids being kids, kids having fun, kids staying healthy, and adult volunteers working together to make our community great. Sinking a shot may or may not get a kid into college, but mastering the art of shooting a basketball builds confidence and confidence goes from the court to the classroom.  Confidence follows kids wherever they go and gives kids a boost throughout life.  And when you miss, but keep trying… well that’s perseverance and perseverance will keep you coming back to the Y to practice your shot, work on your game or meet up with friends.   Staying healthy and making good choices; that’s youth development, healthy living and social responsibility in a nutshell. You might not be on the varsity team at your school, but at the Y you always have a place to play.
